Crohn’s Disease, also known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that can involve the entire gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the perianal region around the anal opening. Although irritation can arise anywhere along the GI tract, the inflammation most commonly appears at first in the last portion of the small intestine, called the terminal ileum.
Crohn’s Disease is a fistulizing disease where abnormal connections are developed either within the gastrointestinal tract or between the gastrointestinal tract and other adjoining structures such as the colon, bladder, vagina, and others.
